companies and 12 insurance brokers companies.
By August 2016: Total assets reached 225,502
billion VND (up 17%); of which, the non-life
insurance businesses asset is 61,000 billion VND
(up 7%), life insurance companies is 164,502
billion VND (up 27.3%), compared to the same
period of 2015. The total equity reached 50,080
billion VND (up 20%), in which non-life insurance
companies is 22,149 billion VND (up 16.7%), life
insurance companies is 27,931 billion VND (up
27.3%), compared to the same period in 2015.
Reinvestment in the economy reached 178,453
billion VND (up 24%), in which non-life insurance
companies reached about 32,868 billion VND (up
18.1%); life insurance companies reached about
145,585 billion VND (up 26.6%), compared to the
same period in 2015. Total premium revenues
reached 52,883 billion VND (up 22.1%) compared
to the same period of 2015. In which revenue
of non-life insurance premiums is estimated at
23,627 billion VND (up 14%); premium revenue of
life insurance is estimated at 29,256 billion VND (
up 29.4%), compared to the same period of 2015.
In terms of brokerage activity, total premiums
arranged through brokers is estimated at 4,290
billion VND, an increase of 0.8% over the same
period in 2015.
Policy development orientation in the 2016-
2020 period: Ministry of Finance is currently
with foreign reinsurers and cost saving. In the
securities sector, Vietnam has committed to
open market for cross-border supply (Mode 1)
for consultancy services and auxiliary services
relating to trading for own account or for account
of customers; for commercial presence (Mode 3),
open for consultancy services, intermediary and
auxiliary services relating to trading for own
account or for account of customers; open Mode 1
and Mode 3 for financial data processing service.
These commitments are accompanied by a certain
number of conditions on the regulations and
licensing procedures of Vietnam. As in the TPP,
Vietnam hasalso committed to national treatment
for foreign service suppliers in the opened areas
of securities services: open market for cross-
border supply for financial information, transfer
and provision, advisory services, intermediary
and auxiliary services.
The development of the financial services market
in the integration period
Insurance market: Implementation of WTO
commitments has promoted the development of
the insurance market. In term of market size, the
number of companies increased from 37 (in 2006)
up to 61 companies (2015), in which, there are
29 non-life insurance enterprises, 02 reinsurance
companies, 01 non-life insurance; 17 life insurance
